Elkader, IAVisitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. June 06, 2007 at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader, IA and after 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the church. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. June 07, 2007 at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader, IA, with interment in the East Side Cemetery, Elkader, IA.
Lenora Olive Possehl, 92, of Elkader, died Sunday afternoon, June 3, 2007, at the Elkader Care Center of leukemia.
Lenora was born August 6, 1914, in Wagner Township, St. Olaf, Iowa, to Ole and Ella (Sorum) Olson. She was united in marriage to Ralph Possehl on October 14, 1930, in Mason City, IA. Seven children were born to this union. Lenora, a homemaker, lived her entire life in the Elkader area. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ.
Survivors include: Lenora Mae (Merlin) Anderson of Elkader, Raymond (Kay) Possehl of Alburnett, Dennis (Mary) Possehl of Marion, Carl (Andrea) Possehl of Goose Creek, SC, Dean (Cynthia) Possehl of Apple Valley, MN; a daughter-in-law Marilyn Possehl of Portage, WI and a son-in-law Logan Rentschler of Elkader; twenty three grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren and one sister, Esther Skibbe of Spring Valley, CA.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; a daughter, Karen, a son, Bruce, a granddaughter, Lois, two brothers, Curtis and Millard Olson, and two sisters, Evelyn Possehl and Gladys Baumgartner.
