Services Held For Anna Wirkler
Funeral services were held Friday, September 21 in Monona for Anna Marie Wirkler who died Wednesday , September 19 at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union. The Rev. R. D. Ehlers officiated at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery, Monona.
Born January 21, 1888 in Clayton county, Anna was the daughter of John and Marie Tuecke Schroeder.She was baptized at Guttenberg by the Rev. J. Janzig and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church at age 13 by the Rev. Otto Wappler.
A member of the church until her death, she was also a charter member of the Mission Circle formed in 1909.
April 28, 1908, Anna was united in marriage to Orville Wirkler. To this union a daughter, Marian and a son, Page, were born.
The couple farmed north of Monona, moving to town in 1929. In the fall of 1973 she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Donald Overbeck, then entered the Good Samaritan Home at West Union in 1975.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Orville in 1958; daughter Marian in 1977; one granddaughter; a great grandson; brothers Rudolph and Henry; and five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lembke, Katherine Schroeder, Mrs. Louise Garms, Mrs. Alma Luepker and Mrs. Christine Duwe.
Surviving are her son Page, daughter-in-law Helen, son-in-law Donald Overbeck, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Grandchildren Allyn, Neil and John Wirkler, John Pannkuk, Bill Sandry and Bill Sandry, Jr. served as pallbearers.
