Funeral services for Arthur John Wolter were held Thursday, February 2, 1989 at 2 p.m. at Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born January 21, 1904 in Allamakee County, Iowa to parents Henry and Freida Wilke Wolter. He died Monday, Jan. 30, 1989 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI.
He was baptized May 22, 1904 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville and confirmed April 1, 1917 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Luana. He received his education in the Luana school.
He married Ina M. DeGraw June 24, 1931 at her grandparents' home in West Union. He worked in Elkader and Luana for Mower Co. He was later self-employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker in the Luana-Monona area. He was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death was his wife Ina, who died October 29, 1979; twin brothers, Fred and George Wolter; a sister, Gretchen Schlitter Oldag and a nephew, Donovan Wolter.
Surviving is a nephew, Dwain Wolter of Luana and a niece, Diane Miller of Monona.
Pallbearers were Doug Schrader, Norman Mueller, Ronald Hofer, Bill Traetow, Bill Staley and Larry Riveland. Honorary pallbearers: Don McShane, Orville Meyer, Leslie Smith, Harlen Heins, Verni Kruse and Bill Gentz.
