Mrs. Louise Kregel was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer and was born March 31, 1866, in Eifersee, Hanover, Germany. When she was six years of age the family emigrated to America and took up its residence in Jefferson township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was confirmed at St. John's church at Guttenberg April 6, 1879. Four years later the family moved to a farm near Luana. On October 26, 1888, she was united in marriage to Fred H. Kregel. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom preceded their parents in death. Mr. Kregel died May 3, 1916. In February, 1920, Mrs. Kregel moved to Garnavillo. In November of last year her health began to fail and she was taken to the home of her daughter Amanda at Monona and placed under surgical and medical care, but all measures taken were powerlesss against the advance of the disease and she died last Sunday morning at the age of 66 years and 10 days.
Deceased leaves one son, Herman, of Garnavillo, two daughters, Mrs. Amanda Meyer and Mrs. Selma Dettmann of Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Borcherding of Guttenberg and Mrs. Minnie Bugenhagen of Luana, and five grandchildren. Four children preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at St. Peter's church here last Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Bunge officiating. Interment was made in new cemetery.
