Funeral Tuesday For Victim of Farm Accident
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Peace United Church of Christ for Eugene C. Hoth, 32, who was killed in a farm accident near St. Olaf Saturday, April 23.
Burial was in the East Side Cemetery, Elkader. The Rev. Alvin Volle, pastor, officiated.
Hoth was killed when his tractor tipped over on top of him while hauling manure. The accident happened shortly after noon on the State Experimental Farm which Hoth operated south of St. Olaf. The Clayton County sheriff's office said the accident happened as Hoth drove his tractor loader from the farm driveway into an adjacent field.
The field was on a side hill and authorities believe that the tractor loader tipped over under the weight of the manure load. Hoth was found underneath the load. He was discovered at 1p.m. by Harley Hermann, St. Olaf, who had come to the farm to pick up milk.
The death was ruled accidental by Dr. Irving Ringdahl, acting county medical examiner.
Hoth is survived by his wife Janice, two sons, David and Darrel, and three daughters, Beverly, Arlene, and Terese, all at home. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hoth, Elkader, one brother Vernon, Farmersburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Allan (Marlene) Marmann, Elkader, and Mrs. Ronald (IlMae) Mueller, Monona.
