MAYNARD- Funeral services for Harlan W. Hamann, of Maynard, are 11 a.m. Friday, June 20,1997 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Maynard. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard or after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Hamann, 76, died on Monday, June 16,1997 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 11, 1920, the son of Harvey and Viola (Radloff) Hamann. He graduated from Garnavillo High School in 1941. On Dec. 2, 1949, he married Anna Mae Gassman in Dubuque. He farmed for 15 years in the Garnavillo area and moved to Maynard in 1962, where he continued to farm. He later went to work for Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp. in Waterloo, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Brotherhood in Garnavillo and Maynard.
Survivors include: his wife; three daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Dennis) Tomaszewski, of Clinton, Doris (Mrs. Bryan) Rueber of Gassman Oelwein and Dawn (Mrs. John) Staffenhagen of Hazleton; six sons, Dennis (and wife, Becky), of Oelwein, Dale (and wife Susan) and Donald, both of Garden Valley, Cal., Douglas, of Verona, Mo., and Dean and Darren, both of Maynard; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Gerald, of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Dwayne, in infancy, one daughter, Deanne, in infancy, one brother and one sister. A memorial fund has been established in his name.I think this is from the Waterloo Courier.
