LEOTA T. GERMAR PETERSON
Burial was at Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, with Military honors. Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
She was born January 24, 1914, in Volga, Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Valeria Green Germar. She was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army in Los Almos, New Mexico, where she met her lifelong companion, Russell Peterson. They were married February 10, 1945 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2000. She retired as an accounting clerk from Hill Air Force Base, Utah, in 1978. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Leota was a volunteer in the children's reading programs at Lewis Elementary School, the RSVP office and Red Cross. The joy of her life was her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being with her family and friends. She liked reading, traveling, and watching sports. Leota was an excellent cook. She died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Wasatch Care Center.
Surviving are one son, Clare (Sharon) Peterson, San Marcos, Texas; two daughters, Eileen (Lynn) Kinsman, Kaysville; Linda Peterson, Ogden, Utah; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one niece, Charlotte Neenan, Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, and three brothers.
