David Hein Sr.
David W. Hein Sr., 65, Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, following a sudden illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, at St. Sebald Lutheran Church, rural Strawberry Point, with Rev. William Gentry II officiating. Burial was in Cass Township Cemetery, Strawberry Point. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, May 6, 1941, to Milton F. and Virginia Mae (Donner) Hein, Sr. David attended Elkader High School in Elkader, Iowa.
He lived and farmed in northeast Iowa with his family. He met his wife, Connie Beisker, in this area, and they were married February 10, 1961. Five children were born to this union. David and Connie lived and farmed in Northeast Iowa for 14 years. They moved to Wauzeka, Wis., where they lived for five years before moving to La Plata, Md. While in La Plata, David owned a siding and gutter business (David Hein & Son) for 29 years. They moved back to Wisconsin July 28, 2005.
David enjoyed hunting as a young man, and watching animals as he grew older. His wife, family, and church were very special to him.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of Prairie du Chien; his children, David W. (Michele) Hein Jr., of Waldorf, Md., Tina L. Hein of La Plata, Bruce M.P. (Diane) Hein of La Plata, Timmy R. (Gissel) Hein of Mineral, Va., and Melissa M. (Michael) Bowie of Waldorf; ten grandchildren, Sharon, Jessie, Tiffany, David III, Carly, Haylee, Christopher, Justin, Jarrett, and Anthony; three brothers, Milton F. (Marge) Hein, Jr. of Maryland, Bruce M. Hein and Richard Hein, both of Prairie du Chien; and his sister, Diane (Loren) Fishler, also of Prairie du Chien.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Hein; and three sisters, Marlene (Mattie) Hein, Barbara Hein, and Nancy Hein.
Honorary casketbearers were Richard Hein and Bruce Hein. Casketbearers were Chad Hein, Roger Hein, Richard Mattie, Jerry Hein, Toni Hein, Jamie Hein, and Milton Hein III.
