On Wednesday a warrant was given Sheriff Place for the arrest of George Alwes, of Jefferson township, charged with the crime of seducing Miss Elizabeth Schoult, of the same township. At last accounts the young man had not been arrested, having sought safety in flight, but the sheriff was close on his track.

Elkader Register, Fri., 30 Mar. 1883. Home News column.

(Note: No further information could be found as to the outcome of this crime. There are several surname variations of both primary surnames mentioned that can be found on this website.)
