1835, April 18th. Allen Mcreary of the Co of Dubuque and Terr of MI for $150 by Elisha S. Hayward, two town lots in the town of DuBuque on one of which said lots there is a small framed house built and originally owned by Elphalet Price and purchased from him by the sd. Allen Mcrery, said lot bounded on the north by William (a colored man) on the east by lots owned by Robert C. Bodwin, on the South by unoccupied ground and on the west by Lots owned by William J. Maddin. 17th day of April 1835. Allen McCrery, W. Lewis, Attest.

-Notes:
1) Dubuque co. (and the town of Dubuque) was a part of the Territory of Michigan until July 1836, when it became a part of Wisconsin Territory, Dubuque co.
2) Eliphalet Price was an early settler in Dubuque, arriving in the fall of 1832. He traveled to Clayton co. several times in the next couple years but didn't permanently settle in the county until about 1836. His son, Realto E. Price edited the 1916 History of Clayton County Iowa
