MCLELAND, SMITH, MCCLELLAND

MARRIED - In Prairie du Chien, October 11th, by Rev. Wm Mullen, Mr. Charles D. McLeland to Miss Martha J. Smith, both of Iowa.

Note: C.D. McLeland, age 24, single, born NY; was enumerated in his parents (R.J. & Anna) household, Grand Meadow twp., on the 1860 U.S. census taken 3 August 1860. He appears in other records from the 1860's in Clayton co. , one being town clerk of Grand Meadow twp. in 1861. The 1870 US census enumerated C.D. McClelland (carpenter), Martha J., and children living in Erie, PA. By 1880 he & Martha have 4 children (ages 9-15) and are living in Austin, Cook co., ILL, where he's a carpenter.
