CONKEY, RIPLEY

MARRIED - At Decorah, Iowa, on Wednesday, Sep 21st, by the Rev. M.M. Balley, Charles H. Conkey, to Miss Sarah C. Ripley.

Charley has done well. He has put off the lessed day of bliss till a somewhat late hour, but the long period of misery which he has enjoyed will have prepared his heart to appreciate the glories of a more exalted life, and we have heard that he exhibits the rapture of countenance now-a-days which marked the face of the great Israelite when Jehovah spoke to him on Mount Sinai. The smile of a female divinity should certainly carry to the heart of a bachelor all the ecstacy which Moses felt! The happy pair have our warmest congratulations. Worthy of each other as they are, life will be but a pleasant dream and earth a Heaven!

Note: Charles H. Conkey, single, aged (either 24 or 29) was enumerated in Mendon twp., on the 1856 Iowa State census. Thereafter, he & Sarah are living in Fillmore co. MN
