GARNAVILLO: Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church Miss Fern A. Stiehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Stiehl, became the bride of Leo B. Walther, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walther. Rev. M. J. Harder officiated. The date was also the 53rd wedding anniversary of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stiehl, and also the birthday of the bride's father. The bride and groom were unattended. They will make their home in an apartment over Mr. Walther's grocery store. Miss Stiehl is a graduate of Garnavillo high school with the class of 1931, and has been teaching the rural school near her home the past three years. Mr. Walther is a graduate of Elkader high school with the class of 1930. Following his graduation, he became proprietor of a grocery store in Garnavillo, and since the early part of this year he has been operating a grocery store here in Elkader.
