St. Joseph's church in Elkader was the scene of the wedding of Miss Amy Jo Donlon, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Donlon, to Mr. John Joseph McDonnell of Northampton Mass. The bride carried a prayer book that had been carried by her aunt, Ellen Donlon, 50 years earlier in St. Joseph's old church when she was married to Thomas Foran. Preceding the bride were the ushers and bridesmaids - the latter led by little Amy Lou Donlon, niece of the bride. The bridesmaids carried the same lace baskets carried during the wedding of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Dewey A. stringer. The junior bridesmaid was Miss Jean Stringer of Houston, Tex. It will be remembered that the bride was junior bridesmaid of Miss Jean's mother, Lucy Meyer. Miss Mary Donlon of Chicago, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Donlon, of that city, cousin of the bride, was a bridesmaid. Miss Ann McDonnell, a sister of the groom, was maid of honor. Groomsman was Mr. John B. Donlon. The ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father John Foran D.D., of Whit__isville, Mass., who had come to Elkader at the bride's wish. The nuptial mass was said by Rev. Father
Luke Donlon, of Monona, Iowa, uncle of the bride. Present in the sanctuary were the Rev. Fathers Taken, Walsh and Peters. Serving were Rev. Mr. Gerald Steiert and Thomas Walsh. Miss Margaret Donlon of Chicago played the recessional march. Bridal ushers were Mr. Charles McDonnell, Mr. Harold Downey, Mr. James Neylan, while Vincent Poull and Donald Taggart served as church ushers. After the ceremony a informal buffet breakfast was served 100 or more guests at the home of the bride's parents. The former Miss Donlon grew to womanhood in Elkader, first going to the parish school, then Elkader High School, then Clarke college in Dubuque. She has been involved in many of Elkader's clubs, including the Daughter's of the American Revolution. Mr. McDonnell is a native son of Massachusetts. He is a faithful pilot of the Archbishop Williams assembly, fourth degree K. of C., a member of the Northampton K. of C., Northampton lodge of Elks, and the Massachusetts State Pharmaceutical association. He is the proprietor of the McDonnell Bros. drugstore at Florence, Mass., where they will reside. They autoed east and will be at their new home in Florence after Sept. 1st.

Clayton County Register, Thur., 12 July 1934. Condensed from well over a column-long newspaper account of the wedding.
