Friends were surprised Thursday when they learned that Miss Velma N. Oldfather and Arlie L. Barger, both of this place, were united in marriage at Manchester, Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Presbyterian parsonage, Rev. C. A. Hyde officiating. They were attended by Miss Venita L. Adams and Charles H. Weir, of this place. The bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Oldfather, who moved here two years ago from Arlington and Miss Velma remained and graduated from the public school in 1927. The groom is employed by Ben Brockmeyer, who is working for the Standard Oil Co. The newlyweds expect to make their home at Elkader.
