Tuesday, May 16th, Miss Alvina Steen was united in marriage to Mr. Ernest F. Seifert, at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. John F. Steen of this place, Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. The couple were attended by Miss Florence Steen, sister of the bride, and Earl Zahrndt, nephew of the groom. A luncheon was served after the ceremony, after which a jolly party consisting of Earl Zahrndt, the brides sisters Florence and Mabel Steen, with Mr. and Mrs. Seifert, drove the newlyweds to McGregor where they boarded a train on a honeymoon trip to Chicago.
Mr. Seifert came to Elkader from Clayton Center, Some years ago he learned the printers trade working on the old Nord Iowa Herald, and later was clerk in the management of the Bayless Hotel. For the past six months he has been assistant editor of the REGISTER. During the World War he saw service overseas and since his discharge from the army has held offices in the local American Legion post. He is secretary of the local Masonic Lodge.
The newlyweds will go to housekeeping in Elkader at the residence on main street recently purchased by Mr. Seifert.
