Last Thursday in the Lutheran church occurred the marriage of Miss Gertrude Opperman, of this place, and Mr. Roy K. DeShaw, of Belle Plaine, Rev. Jahr officiating. The couple were attended by Miss Lillian Opperman, sister of the bride, and Mr. Earl DeShaw of Iowa City, brother of the groom. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Opperman. After her high school graduation she has been assisting ih the post office for four years, and later attended Cedar Rapids Business College. For nearly ten years she was cashier in the First National Bank and since her resignation has worked for J. J. Mathews, Examiner in charge of closed banks since last March. The groom is a son of G. H. DeShaw of Hopkinton, and well spoken of. The couple autoed to Cedar Rapids to spend a few days before going to Belle Plaine, their future home.
