~North Iowa Times, Thursday, January 12, 1888

Married. At St. Richard's church, Monona, Iowa, Tuesday morning, January 10, at 9:30 a.m. by Rev. Corbett, J.W. McLaughlin, of Elkader, and Miss Maggie U. Humphrey, daughter of James Humphrey of Giard township.

Miss Katie Humphrey, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Mr. Dennis Mulary, of Elkader, was the groom's best man. At the hour appointed the bridal party took their places at the alter. The marriage was solemized immmediately before mass, and at the benediction the party again advanced to the alter to receive the blessings of the church.

After mass Father Corbett delivered a highly appropriate sermon. By special request, Miss Ryan, daugher of Mr. Jno. Ryan, acted as organist, and sung mass. The singing and misic was very fine and acknowledged by many present to the the best ever heard in the Monona church.

The service ended, the party was driven to the residence of the bride's parents, where a sumptous repast was served. Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey fully sustained their reputation for open-hearted hospitality.

To Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin we extend a happy greeting and our sincere wishes for a happy and prosperous future.
