At the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Hamlin at Cedar Falls, Iowa, Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, 1907, occurred the marriage of their daughter Margaret Alice to Max R. Gmelin, of Clinton, Iowa. Rev. J. E. Snowden, of the Congregational church, officiated, in the presence of about forty guests. After congratulations refreshments were served. Among those in attendance from abroad were Miss Lula Smith, of Fremont, Neb. Clyde Hamlin, brother of the bride, Bayonne, N.J., and H. C. Gmelin, brother of the groom, Elkader, Iowa. The bride is well and favorably known to our people, having taught in the Elkader High School for three years. The groom is the eldest son of Dr. and Mrs. R. Gmelin, of Elkader, and has grown to manhood among us. He is especially gifted with the violin and is making music his profession. He is now residing at Clinton, Iowa, where he holds a position as professor of music in the Wartburg College.
