In Response To: Owen, Daughter Born 1905 (Joy Moore)

The Owen baby was Marian Frances Owen, the daughter of Charles Gilbert Owen (1862-1938) and Viola Mae Dull (1871-1938). Marian was born on 12 August 1905 in Monona Township, Clayton County, Iowa. On 1 January 1925 she married Kenneth Virgil Lange. They farmed in the Monona and Postville areas. Marian had a brother named Roy Gilbert Owen who lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Marian and Kenneth Lange were the parents of Bennett Lange who married Darlene Schutte, Le Allen Lange who married Joyce Kottman, Peggy Lange who married John Rothmeyer, Marjorie Lange who married Leo E. Bollman, and Diane Marie Lange who married Gary Ellis. Marian Frances (Owen) Lange died on 25 November 1970.

On the IaGenWeb-Clayton County site, there are obituaries in regard to the Owen and Lange Family which includes Charles Gilbert Owen. In his obituary, it listed that he had a brother named Eugene Owen who lived in Osage, Iowa. EUGENE WAS NOT THE SAME EUGENE ELLIOTT OWEN who lived in the Frankville and Postville area throughout his lifetime. However, both Eugene's frequently were mistaken for each other because both had lived in the Frankville area and they knew each other prior to Eugene Owen moving away from the area and settling in Osage, Iowa. The Postville Eugene Owen married Melissa Arvilla Webb and one of their 3 children was Alice Berdeva Owen who was born in June of 1905 (grandmother to this contributor). Alice and Marian also knew each other and tried throughout their life to see if they were RELATED TO EACH OTHER THROUGH THEIR OWEN SURNAME. They thought they were but just could not find the right link. Unfortunately, they both passed away in the 1970's and 80's. It would not be until about 2017 that their Owen family mystery was solved - YES, THEY WERE RELATED! I know that they would have been pleased to know that they just needed to go back a few more generations to find their shared grandparents!
