New Year's morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Grannis at Fayette, Iowa, occurred the marriage of their only daughter, Abbie H., and Harry L. Griffith, of Elkader. Rev. A. E. Bennett, dean of the Upper Iowa University, performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate family. The bride is a popular young lady of Fayette, a graduate of the musical and arts department of the U.I.U. The groom is the junior member of the firm D. G. Griffith & Son, proprietors and publishers of the Register. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Griffith arrived home Tuesday evening and were tendered a wedding supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Carpenter. In the evening, at the home of D. G. Griffith, they were treated to the usual serenade. The wedding was in the nature of a surprise, both at Fayette and Elkader, being known only to the relatives and a few friends before the day of the marriage.
