Wednesday evening, May 10th, 1916, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Mary Gifford, occurred the marriage of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gifford Henkes, to Wm. Armstrong, of Windsor, Ill. They were unattended. Rev. Isaac Cassel of the Congregational Church performed the ceremony. The bride is an Elkader girl, born and raised here, a student of the Elkader High School and a recent student of the Art Department of the Immaculate Conception Academy of Dubuque, and is an artist of ability. The groom, a jeweler of Windsor, is a stranger, but comes well recommended and has a pleasing personality. The young couple leave Saturday, accompanied by her little daughter, Jamaine Dorcas Henkes, on a trip to Chicago and Indianapolis, before going to their future home at Windsor, Ill., where they will be at home after June 15th.
