April 13th A.D. 1838
His Excellency Governor Dodge this day revoked the commission of Henry F. Lander, Sheriff of the County of Clayton, appointed on the seventeenth day of January last, and commissioned the following officers in the county of Clayton viz: John W. Griffith Sheriff in the place of Lander, Horace Brunson, William D. Grant and E.R. Hill, Justices of the peace; also Issued a duplicate commission for the Office of Justice of the Peace in the County of Van Buren to William Olney whose nomination was confirmed by the Council on the eighteenth day of January last.- source: Territorial Papers of the United States; Vol. XXVII; Wisconsin Territory' 1836-1839; compiled & edited by John P.
