The Elkader Journal says that Leonard Pomeroy, an old man seventy-five years of age, in Reads Township, met with a horrible death by being eaten alive by hogs. It appears that Mr. Pomeroy had gone out to feed a couple of hogs at two o’clock in the afternoon. At three o’clock he was found in the pen, his shoulders eaten, his face lacerated and torn by the ugly teeth of their hogs, and terrible gashes in his bowels. It was terrible sight to behold.
