At St. Joseph's church was the scene of a very pretty April wedding on Wednesday morning when Miss Martha Kelleher became the bride of Mr. Joseph Hoover. Rev. Father Taken performed the ceremony. Miss Marie Kelleher, sister of the bride, acted as bride's maid, while the groom was attended by Mr. Leo Kelleher.
After the ceremony a reception was given at the home of Mrs. Sarah Uriell, grandmother of the bride. A three course wedding breakfast was served the immediate families of the bride and groom and Father Taken.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Celia Kelleher of this city, and is one of Elkader's most popular young ladies. She is a graduate of the Elkader High School and completed a Teacher's Training course at Fayette. For three years she has been a most successful teacher, having but recently resigned a very good position at Grafton, Iowa.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hoover. He is a young man of sterling qualities, and held in esteem by a large circle of friends. Since his graduation from High School he has assisted his father on the farm.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoover left for Chicago on the noon train mid showers of rain and rice, and the good wishes of a host of friends. After a brief honeymoon with relatives there they will be at home on a farm three miles south of Elkader. The best wishes of the community go with them to their new home.
