Bettey - Gilson marriage - 1921

John H. Bettey, aged seventy-four, and Emma Gilson, aged sixty-eight, were united in marriage by Justice Lenth last evening at the court house. Immediately after the ceremony the Elkader band met the couple at the court house and accompanied them to the hotel, to which place they were drawn in a buggy pulled by a number of small boys. J. O. Parsons of Dyersville, Iowa, was chairman of the committee on arrangements.
