At a pretty ceremony at the Evangelical Friedens church on Wednesday, March 30th, Miss Florence Madalyn Schmidt became the bride of Mr. Elmer F. Bente.
Miss Georgia Niemeyer was bride's maid, Lorna Murphy served as ring bearer, while Dr. A. H. Schmidt, of Lincoln, Nebraska, brother of the bride, was best man. Rev. Franks officiated using the double ring ceremony.
After the ceremony the bridal party went to the home of the bride where the reception was held. A three course dinner was served to about seventy guests, immediately after which the bride and groom departed for a wedding trip to Chicago and Indianapolis.
Both bride and groom are very popular young people of Elkader, the bride being the only daughter of Mrs. Ella Schmidt, and is an accomplished musician, having spent three years studying at the Indianapolis Conservatory and one year in New York City. The groom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bente and after finishing school here attended Oberlin College and the University of Nebraska and is now engaged in Farming.
Upon their return from their trip they will reside on the Bente farm just north of Elkader.
Elkader Register, Thur. 31 Mar. 1921.
