On Thursday, November 21, a pretty wedding scene was witnessed by a large crowd of people who assembled at the Monona Lutheran church where Miss Irene Voelzke, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Voelzke of Monona, became the bride of Mr. George J. Wilker, son of Mrs. George Wilker Sr., of St. Olaf. The Rev. H. W. Siefkes officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bridal party was lead by the ushers, Albert Voelzke and Willard Orr, followed by the bridesmaid, Mrs. William Orr, a sister of the groom. She was followed by the little ringbearer, Jean Sass, a niece of the groom. Next came the Matron of honor, Mrs. Carlton Voelzke. The bride entered the church last, on the arm of her father. The bride and her attendants were met at the alter by the groom and his attendant, Carlton Voelzke, a brother of the bride. Just preceding the marriage ceremony, Merrill Wirkler, of Garnavillo, a friend of the couple, sang "O, Promise Me" and "O, Perfect Love."
At 5:30 a two-course wedding dinner was served to about thirty guests by Lucy Wilker and Verda Mae Drahn. That same evening a large reception was held for the newlyweds in the Farmersburg opera house where the couple received many pretty and useful gifts.
After December 1, Mr. and Mrs. Wilker will be at home on the George Wilker farm near St. Olaf.
