de Neui - Allen marriage - 1924

Miss Ruth Allen of this place and John de Neui of Ackley, Iowa, were united in marriage, Tuesday forenoon, August 5th at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical church, Rev. Franke pastor of the church officiating, using the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with ferns and flowers.

The bride was attired in white canton crepe and veil trimmed with beads and carried a bouquet of roses. The groom was dressed in dark.

Mrs. B. E. Abel played Lohengrin's Wedding March and Miss Velma Meisner sang "Oh, Promise me" and "At Dawning."

The bride's maids were Florence Bente, Minnie de Neui, Maurine Allen and Vera Alderson. Ushers were Leroy Bandow, Orvin Glesne, Ralph Bente and Clarence Leonard, Norma Bergemeyer was flower girl. Mrs. Wm. Allen. Matron of Honor, and Wm. Allen, Groomsman.

After the ceremony a splendid three course dinner was served to about seventy guests at the home of the bride's parents, after which the young couple left for Devil's Lake, Wisconsin, on a wedding trip and will be at home to their many friends about September 1, at De Witt, Iowa.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Allen of this place, and has grown to womanhood in this community. She is a young lady of the highest character and has won a great many friends. She graduated from the Elkader High School with the class of 1918.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John de Neui Sr. of Ackley, Iowa. He is a graduate of the state normal college at Cedar Falls and is now instructor in manuel training at De Witt.

The groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John de Neui, Sr., and his sisters Abbie and Minnie were in attendance at the wedding, also relatives and friends from Dubuque, Oelwein, McGregor and Eldora.

The best wishes of many friends go with this young couple as they begin life's journey.
