The residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Heine on First street was the scene of a pretty home wedding last Saturday afternoon, when at 5:00 o'clock occurred the marriage of their daughter, Leona M., to Mr. W. C. Irwin of Chicago. The ceremony was performed by the groom's father, Rev. Irwin, pastor of the Congregational church at Wood River, Neb. After the marriage an elaborate wedding feast was partaken of by thirty or more invited guests and in the evening a reception was tendered the guests and friends of the couple.

The groom, although a stranger to the people of Guttenberg, has made a favorable impression on all who have formed his acquaintance. He holds a lucrative position in the purchasing department of the Liquid Carbolic Acid Gas Co. in Chicago. While the bride who was born and reared in Guttenberg, hardly needs an introduction to our people. She is a young lady possessing many true womanly virtues. The greater part of the time for the past few years she has spent in Chicago. The Press joins with the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Irwin in wishing for them a long, happy and prosperous married life. They will remain here until the latter part of next week and will then leave for Chicago, where they will be at home to their friends after Sept. 1st.

Those from abroad in attendance at the marriage were Mrs. B. R. Connelly, sister of the bride, Henry Heine, Dr. O. C. Heine, H. C. Eckart and daughter Margaret, A. L. Beck and Miss Lena Frankley, of Chicago; Mrs. Anna Beck and daughter Jennie, of Elkport; Mrs. Bloedel, McGregor; Ray and Will Bloedel, of Duluth, Minn.; and Mr and Mrs. Fred Mutcher, Dubuque.

Elkader Register, Thur., 30 Aug. 1906. Guttenberg column.
