Sheriff Dittmer was called to North Buena Vista yesterday in regard to a shooting scrape at that place. It appears that several boys have been in the habit of annoying John Tittle, an old soldier residing there, (Next two words unreadable.), he shot at them, hitting one of the boys in the wrist. Tittle was arrested and is to have hearing.
Elkader Register, Thur., 5 July 1906. Local News column.
John Tittle, of Buena Vista township, was brought to jail last Wednesday to serve a 15 day sentence for shooting a young man named Barker in the arm. Tittle is an old soldier who had been considerably annoyed by boys and young men and in his anger pulled the gun and shot one of them. The charge made against him was "carrying concealed weapon" on account of the circumstances and only a light sentence imposed.

Note: John Lester Tittle served in Co. D, 1st TN Light Artillery during the Civil War
