Mock burned out - 1901

MOCK, PIERCE

Peculiar happenings occur in every community. Last Friday morning the house owned by Mabel Mock, and occupied by herself and grandmother, was burned to the ground with all the household goods. Mrs. Pierce and Miss Mock were from home at the time and no fire in the house. There was no insurance which makes the loss doubly great. The author surely ought to receive his just reward even in this world. The neighbors are trying to repair the loss as far as is in their power.

Elkader Register, Thur., 5 Sept. 1901. Jefferson column.
