At four o'clock Saturday afternoon, Aug. 8th, at the church in Marion township, occurred the ceremony that united in marriage V. L. Gilje, of Elkader, and Miss Julia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Halstenson, of Marion township. Rev. Mr. Tanner, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony.
After a pleasing ceremony the wedding party with about one hundred guests repaired to the home of the bride's parents where a sumptuous six o'clock dinner was served.
The bride is highly spoken of as one of the most popular young ladies of Marion township. The groom is well known to our readers as a most worthy young man, being at present time the head of the clothing firm of Gilje & Reinecke.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilje left Sunday evening for Duluth, thence to Chicago and the east. They will make their home in Elkader, and will be joined by the bride's parents who will soon move here. The register extends congratulations.
Elkader Register, Thur., 13 Aug. 1903. (Condensed from a longer article.)
