Married at the residence of the pastor in Elkader, Saturday, December 2, 1871, by Rev. M.M. Wakeman, Mr. Wm Hawthorne of Webster County, and Miss Mary E. Peck of Cox Creek, Clayton County, Iowa.

Mr. Hawthorne won the heart of one of Clayton County’s best of girls. And we wish him joy for though he takes her away from us to Webster County, we are sure he will take good care of her. A long life and a perpetual honeymoon to Mr. and Mr. H. is our most fervent wish.
