Married on the evening of July 5th, 1870 at the church in Elkader, by the Rev. Mr. Taylor, Mr. John H. Andrick of the “North Iowa Times” to Miss Mattie J. Scott daughter of G. S. C. Scott all of McGregor, Iowa.

Well John you have ‘gone and done it’ at last. May that quiet wedding in the church on that beautiful July evening, be an omen of future happiness and peace to you and your lovely bride. Already it has brought a glorious rain in the parched and thirsty earth, may either of heaven’s best blessing follow. May your Form always be perfect, with plenty of locals, is the sincere wish of your numerous friends.
