I have a charming autograph book that belonged to Miss Hattie Best. I am willing to scan the pages for descendants of the children who wrote in the book. So far I have scanned the front cover of the book & have scanned the pages for the following (see list of people in book): #3, #4, #6, #7, #17, #18 & #19. I will scan any of the pages requested.

Description 1907 autograph book:
Owner: Miss Hattie Best, Elkader, Clayton Co. Iowa
Written on inside cover: A Christmas present (sic) from Emma.
Dated: December 25, 1907

Autographs & messages to Hattie in the book. The notes are mine, detailing what I have found about the individual who wrote the autograph to Hattie:

3. Lucy Lemke, St. Olaf, Ia, Jan. 26th, 1908
Note: Lucy may have been Emmie (#4) Lemke's sister.
4. Emmie Lemke, St. Olaf, Ia, Jan 26th, 1908
Note: Emmie Lemke was the first wife of Theodore Glawe. He always called her She died following childbirth in about 1917. He then married Lillian Vogt Oelke. Lucy Lemke (#3), may have been Emmies sister.

6. Mahalia Kahlbaum, Elkader Iowa, Mar 20, 1909

Note: I believe the Connell's (#7, 17,18 & 19) are the children of James Connell and Catherine Garaghty: Ann (b. 1898), Edward (b. 1899), James (b. 1901), and Sarah (b. 1904)

Note: From an Elkader area researcher: The Tangeman family members (#9, 10, 11 & 14) were good friends of my Great Grandmother Amelia Seifert Vulgraff Vogt and Margaret Tangement worked for my parents in their department store for years. Her sister Alma ran the dry cleaners. Margaret and Alma were family friends of my mother and step-father in Elkader.

John Wehrkamp was the son of my great great grandfather Johann Wehrkamp and his second wife Anna Maria Schlake and the half brother of my great grandmother Sophia Wehrkamp Buske. Sophia was the daughter of Johann Wehrkamp and his first wife Leonore Lohmeier who died in childbirth in 1857.]
