Johanningmeier - Backhaus marriage 1918

At the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Backhaus in Grand Meadow township, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1918, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Amanda, to Alvin A. Johanningmeier, Rev. Kumpf of the Luana Lutheran church officiating. The bride was attended by her sister, Viola Backhaus, and the groom by his brother, Roy Johanningmeier, with little Irene Johanningmeier as ring bearer. The groom is the son of Chas. Johanningmeier of this city. The couple will go to housekeeping on the groom's farm southwest of town.- Monona Leader, and re-printed in the Postville Herald of Friday, 25 Oct. 1918, and here condensed.
