McGregor, Ia. - Special: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Knoebel, well known McGregor couple, Thursday celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home.
The couple's 11 children, 28 grandchildren and one great-grandson were in attendance at the celebration.
Preceding the open house in the afternoon, a dinner served at the Knoebel home to the immediate members of the family.
The couple were married at Prairie du Chien, Wis., on June 26, 1886. Mrs. Knoebel was former Lone Oliver, a native of McGregor. The home was immediately established at McGregor.
Mr. Knoebel retired on a pension from the Milwaukee railroad six years ago. He was formerly a switchman.
Mr. Knoebel is 76, while his bride of 50 years is 68 years old. Both are enjoying good health.
The children are: Charles, John, Joy, Michael, Mrs. Lester Henkes, Mrs. George Harrington and Mrs. Ed Tesar, all of McGregor, Frederick of Sparta, Wis., Alfred of Lansing, Mrs. Joy Lamphier of Fayette and Mrs. Kenneth Weir of Dubuque.
Two daughters have died.
