The following information has been collected by Judy and Jerry Moyna from several newspapers from the county including the Clayton County Journal, The Elkader Register, and the Clayton County Register, etc.
Plans include scanning available photographs, post cards, plat maps, and other appropriate printed material and the continuation of the excerpts from the local newspapers. Copies on a computer disk of the Family Tree Maker information and the text shown here are available to anyone who wants to add information to that now on file. ______________________6 Nov. 1878 Garnavillo: Rev. Mr. Seifert address the A.O.'s in German. His remarks seemed to be pointed if the continued burst of laughter and applause are any indication of point.

26 Mar 1879 Elkader: On the evening of March 31, Bismark Lodge #110, AOUW will celebrate the second anniversary of their organization. Rev. F. W. Seifert of Read will deliver the address in Germany at Turner Hall.

27 May 1880 Rev. F. W. Seifert, Lutheran pastor at Clayton Center, will hold services at the M.E. Church in this place, next Sabbath afternoon at two o'clock. His theme will be "Our illustrious dead."
24 June 1880 Clayton Center will celebrate on Sunday the Fourth of July, in grand style. The Elkader Cornet Band will furnish the music and Rev. F. W. Seifert will deliver the oration.
22 July 1881 Littleport: Our town was very lively last Sabbath, business, pleasure, and religious services combined. Rev. F. W. Seifert of Clayton Center preached a fine sermon at the German church . . .

1 Dec 1882 Clayton Center: Destructive Fire--Burning of the store and residence of Mr. C. W. Hagensick . . . Mrs. Hagensick had a very narrow escape from death . . . overcome by smoke . . . she was rescued by Rev. F. W. Seifert who carried her out . . . . (Note: Rev. Seifert had lost both feet when his feet were frozen hauling logs in 1859!)
22 Dec 1882 Rev. F. W. Seifert will hold Christmas services at the M.E. Church in this place on the 25 inst.
9 Feb. 1883 Fred Miller’s Raffle and Dance was held at Turner Hall on Tues. evening and was attended by quite a large number. The horse was won by Rev. F. W. Seifert of Clayton Center.
5 Oct. 1883 Rev. F. W. Seifert of Clayton Center was confined to his house several days this week. For the first time since he has had charge of the parish, no church was held at Clayton Center last Sabbath.
20 Dec 1888 Clayton: R. Seaman came through town last Saturday from Nebraska on his way to Read where he was married Tuesday to a daughter of Rev. Seifert. (Anna)
6 June 1889 Elkader: We learn that R. W. Seeman who formerly resided near Mederville in this county but who now resides in Oregon was unfortunate enough to be in a stage coach which was robbed recently. He resisted the attempts to take his money and was terribly beaten by the highwaymen, and some $400 taken from him. We understand that he was quite low from the effects of the beating received.
5 Seat 1889 There will be a revival and dance at Buchheim's hall, Clayton Center, on September 15, 1889. This will be the last dance of the season. Everybody invited.
19 Seat 1889 The three month old child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vullgraf near Farmersburg died yesterday and will be buried today.
31 Oct. 1889 Rev. F. W. Seifert and wife of Clayton Center rejoice over the advent of a son at their home last week. (Ernie)
