The law office of Matthews, Lindsay & Frantzen was the scene of an interesting marriage ceremony Thursday night. The young couple were Ernest Faber of McGregor, who came to Dubuque with Sheriff Conlin, and Miss Emma Bock. Alphons Matthews was master of ceremonies and Nathan Utt gave the bride away. Jailer Joe Bertsch was best man and J.R. Lindsay and a sister of the bride were interested spectators. J.P. Frantzen improved the opportunity to gain some pointers. The ceremony was performed by the affable justice in his usual accomplished manner and concluded with a judicial smack, applied as only Carney can. Everything went off in the most happy spirit, except Mr. Utt, who thought Carney supplanted him. Mr. Matthews presented the bride with $400, the present to her from the groom. The bride and groom were happy and went away to locate a home for themselves.
