Local People Observe 50 YEARS OF MARRIAGE With Event on Tuesday

Wed fifty years ago, on May 2, 1894, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Schute observed their golden anniversary Tuesday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Anton Wille, and Mr. Wille north of Guttenberg on the Clayton ridge.

H.E. Schute and Clara Meyer were married at St. Mary’s church in Guttenberg and have lived here since that time. Both were born in Guttenberg.

Since their marriage Mr. Schute has been engaged in various businesses. For a time he was a clerk at a local lumber company, later working as shell buyer and manager for the Montgomery button company. Twenty-two years ago he became city clerk of Guttenberg and still is active in that position.

The Schutes have three children, Mrs. Alma Wille of Guttenberg, Clarence Schute of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Harold Schute of St. Louis, Missouri.

Among those who attended the celebration of the golden anniversary at the Wille home were Fr. J. A. Dupont, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schute and son of Perrysburg, Ohio; Harold Schute of St. Louis, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. C. Clarence Phelan and son, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hansel and son of Garber; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schute, Mrs. Emma Meyer, Alfred Meyer, Mrs. Veronica Wille and daughter, Teresa, Mrs. Louis Matt, Mrs. Ben Lake, Mrs. John Powers, Mrs. Peter Junk, Mrs. Jacob Bechler, and Edw. Kuempel and daughter, Marie, all of Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wille and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hoefer and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Thiese and family, and Mrs. And Mrs. Leon McQuire and family, the latter neighbors of the Anton Willes.
