Charles E. Tottingham is one of the settlers of the township of Eyota, who came here at a very early age. The subject of this sketch was the son of Elias and Mary Tottingham, and was born in Clayton county, Iowa, in the year 1852. In the year 1854 his father started for Minnesota, and on his arrival there located on sections 34 and 35. He built a house there and did some "breaking," after which he returned to Iowa for his family, and moved them by wagon to his homestead in Eyota during the year 1855. He departed this life in 1879. Charles still lives on the old homestead, and is a practical farmer by occupation.
