John Schweikert was married first to Maria Trandt she was born 1834 died 1873. She had ch. Jacob, Christy, Catherine married John Combs, John Schweikert. There is a child Rose buried in the Hansel Cem. she died 1874.
In the 1880 Elk twp. census p-1 he is married to Angeline. John Schweikert age 54, Angeline Lewis Schweikert wife 34, Jacob 21, Catherine 17, Charles 16, Wilhemina 14, Henry 12, Christian 10, Irene 9, John 5, Paul 3, Jaqueline 1, Ellanor 1/2.

A little of what is in the 1882 Clayton Co. His. page 765... John Schweikert was born in the Kingdom of Wartenberg, Germany on July 1, 1826. He left the land of his birth for america in 1840 and landed in Baltimore, Maryland. From there he went to Cumberland, Md. remaining two and one half years then removed to Sumerset County Pa. Thence to Ohio where in the later state he enlisted in the Mexican was under General Taylor and participated in the battle of Buena Vista, and several other engagements serving until the war closed. In 1850 he went to California and remained until June 5, 1852 when he embarked to Iowa, settling in Jefferson twp. Clayton Co. He located on his present farm in Elk Twp. in 1861. It consisted of 151 1/2 of finely improved land. He was married on Oct. 8, 1854 to Maria Trandt a native of Waldick, Germany born in 1834. She died in 1873 having been the mother of eight children, five sons and thee dau. Mr. Schwiekert was married the second time to Angeline Lewis dau. of Andrew Lewis on July 16, 1873. She was born in Ohio Feb. 26, 1846. To this union was blessed with five children, three sons and two dau. Mr. Schweiker is a mamber of the Lutheran church, and in politics he is a democrat.
