By W. C. McNeilReuben Noble-
In the early fifties, Reuben Noble and his wife came from Patch Grove, Wisconsin, to Garnavillo. Nature endowed him with the characteristics of the pioneer-the common touch. In his partnership with L. O. Hatch they seemed to be the complement of one another. In his elevation to the district bench he proved to be an honest, just judge. The legal technicalities of the present did not at that time tether the court and the equities of both plaintiff and defendant were weighed in the scales of justice.
Although chained to the chariot wheels of the Republican party, I gave the candidacies of both Reuben Noble and L. O. Hatch more than my personal support. Having sat at their feet for instruction, I had no misgivings as to their resolve to honor positions of responsibility.
