ANFIN AND AAGOT RIERSON FAMILY
Anfin was born in Nummedil, Norway on October 14, 1845, and died in Lost Island Township on June 7, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his native land. He came to America and settled in Wisconsin in 1868. He resided there one year and then moved to Clayton County, Iowa, where he lived three years.
He was united in marriage in Clayton County to Anna Hanson. She was born in Nummedil, Norway, on September 10, 1846. In 1872 Mrs. Rierson moved to Palo Alto County and settled on a homestead two miles southwest of Graettinger. Eight children were born to this union. They are:
Robert A.- 1873, Henry A.- 1874, Audine Marie A. (Dinah) – 1876, John A.,- 1878,Theodore A.- 1881, Sigrid Anette A. (Nettie) – 1883, Holver A.- 1885 and Lars A.- 1887.
In 1883 they purchased a farm in Lost Island Township one mile south and three miles west of Graettinger. Three of the children were born here: Nettie, Holver and Lars.
Mrs. Rierson passed away on April 11, 1887. On October 13, 1902, Mr. Rierson was united in marriage to Aagot Ovidia Dorethea Olson who was born in Oslo, Norway on December 21, 1870. She came to the U.S. in 1901 and spent one year in New York City before coming to Ruthven, Iowa.
Four children were born to this union. They are: Anna Marie A. (Baedke) – 1904, Olaf A.- 1907, Lief A.- 1910 an Ruth Helen A.(Thu) – 1915.
Anfin passed away on June 7, 1921 at the age of seventy-six on their farm west of Graettinger. Mrs. Anfin Rierson passed away at the home of her daughter, Anna Baedke of Terril, Iowa on February 22, 1941. Anfin and his two wives are buried in Lost Island Cemetery in Palo Alto County, Iowa.
