The subject of this sketch was born at Ennenda, Switzerland Sept. 2, 1852, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was married to Fraulein Elsveth Aebly March 6, 1876. Six children were born to them, four of whom survive with their mother to mourn their great loss. The other two had already answered the roll call.

The family came to America in 1903, and settled first in Kansas, and in 1907 came to Clay county and settled near Langdon where they resided at the time of his death, which occurred early Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 1915 as noted last week. He had trouble with an eye and went to Chicago a few weeks ago for an operation, which operation it seems predisposed him to pneumonia of which he died.

He was a man of excellent ability and education, having held an official position under the Swiss government and could speak three languages: Swiss, German and Italian, besides some English. He was a man of excellent traits and qualities much ______ by his neighbors, and was a good Christian withal.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Landgon Tuesday at 1 o'clock p.m., conducted by Rev. E. Grummer of the German Lutheran church of Spencer.

One of the daughters, who resides in Oklahoma, was not able to be present at the funeral owing to the distance.

Interment was made at Meadow cemetery. One more good man has gone home leaving behind sacred and imperishable memories.

Mrs. Durst and the other members of the family wish to express through the News their appreciation of the kindness shown them by friends and neighbors in their time of bereavement.
