Kathryn Hammond, 1865-1915

Kathryn Hammond was born near Eldora. She came to Spencer about 28 years ago with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hammond, where she remained until 11 years ago. She had been associated with the Mandelbaum Suit and Skirt house in Des Moines as a sales lady. She had become very much worn and went to Mitchell, S.D., for a two months rest at the home of her sister, Mrs. Geo. King. and about the time her vacation had come to an close she was taken with pneumonia and only lived eight days, dying Saturday, Feb. 20(?). The parents were also visiting at Mitchell at the same time. The body was brought to Spencer and burial made today, services conducted by Rev. Williams from the home of the parents. She was a thoroughly good Christian woman, loved by a large circle of friends. She leaves besides her parents, one sister, Mrs. Geo. King of Mitchell, S.D., and one brother, Orville Hammond of Jefferson.
