Services for Peter N. Steuben, 87 of Everly will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Pastor Roger Hanson will officiate with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly
Rodney Steuben, Harland Steuben, Melvin Jensen, Kelley Steuben, Gene Steuben and Duane Ott will serve as casket bearers
Steuben, the son of Peter and Amelia (Scharnberg) Steuben, was born November 30, 1893 near Spencer. He spent his childhood in the Everly area, where he also received his early education
He married Elfie Sophia Schoelerman on December 20, 1922 in Spencer, and they lived in the Everly area for their married life, where Steuben was a farmer until May, 1965 retirement
Steuben was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Everly, and he was active in the Farm Bureau and served six years on the Everly School Board of Education. He was also a director of the Northside Hall in Everly for many years
He died Wednesday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital
Steuben was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and nine sisters
Survivors include his wife, Elfie of Everly; two sons, Ronald of Everly and Robert of Royal; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Sierck of Loveland, Colorado
The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of the service arrangements
