Services for Hortense Sierck, 93 of Spencer were Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. The Rev. Tom Dettmer officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service.
Mrs. Sierck died in her home home on Tuesday, March 4, 1988.
Burial was in Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.
Casket Bearers were Randal Sierck, Kevin Zahrt, Thomas Sierck, Douglas Johnson and Steven Johnson.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Gregory Sierck, Bruce Ehli, Michael Beilstein, Jeffrey Johnson, Ronald Sierck, Michael True, Jerry Goedicke and Robert Beilstein.
She was born October 3, 1894 to Dietrich and Elizabeth (Miller) Hartman in Peterson. Her early years were spent on a farm near Peterson before the family moved to Salem, South Dakota in1903. She attended a country school in the area but completed her education in Spencer after the family moved to the community in 1911.
On February 3, 1926, she married Otto W. Sierck in Spencer. During their marriage they lived in Buena Vista and Clay Counties and in 1948, they moved to Spencer.
Mrs. Sierck was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, Gordon of Seattle, Washington, Burton of Spencer and Marvin of Mount Home, Arkansas; three daughters, Lois Johnson, Patricia True of Roseville, California and Beverly Zahrt of Radcliffe; 26 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one step daughter and five grandchildren.
