Services for Verna Alvina Joens,67 of Hartley will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Baumgarten Funeral Home in Hartley. Rev. Lester Hancock will conduct the services
Casket bearers are Jack Letscher, Dave Letscher, Bobby Joens, Duane Bates, Tony Letscher, Darryl Davis and Bruce Norgaard
Interment will be at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly
Mrs. Joens, the daughter of Louis and Doris (Brinkman) Puhrmann, was born December 13, 1911 near Paullina.
She was married to Hans Joens on October 20, 1925 in Paullina. They lived in Lake Park area before moving to Everly in 1960. She worked seven years as a cook in Molly's Restaurant in Everly. Since 1970, they made their home in Hartley
She died in the hospital in Hartley on Sunday
Preceding her in death are her parents and three brothers, Walter, Burnell and Ernest
Surviving Mrs. Joens are her husband, Hans; two daughters, Mrs. Mardell Bates of Hartley and Mrs. Phyllis Davis of Forest City; two sons; Arnold of Worthington, Minnesota and Glen of Hartley; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her mother, Doris Puhrmann of Paullina; a sister, Mrs. Florence Koehlmoos of Paullina and a brother, Marvin Puhrmann of Sheldon
Baumgarten Funeral Home of Hartley is handling the service arrangements
